Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I bring with me on the river?

Things we recommend you bring on your adventure are obviously clothes to wear on the river (Dependent on the weather:  Shorts, tanktops, swimsuits, Under Armor style shirts long sleeve shirts and leggings for colder days, sweatshirts, water shoes, sandals with heel straps, or athletic shoes, etc), a dry change of clothes including shoes for afterwards, sunblock, lipbalm, cheap sunglasses, a hat, a sack lunch (for after), a couple snacks and non-alcoholic beverages (in a plastic sealable bottle) to take on the river (protein bars and water are great choices), any prescription medications that you may need (including epi pens for those with allergies).

Things we recommend you leave behind include anything of value that you do not want to lose, this includes jewelry (wedding rings), high dollar sunglasses, phones, mp3 players etc.  If you forget to leave things at home or lock them up in your vehicle, we will be glad to lock them up in ours for you; however, we will not be held responsible for theft of any items from our vehicles, or yours.  Although the level of criminal activity is very low along this river, If you don’t want to lose it, we recommend you leave it at home.

If you have any questions about what to bring or what to leave behind, please feel free to email us or call us.  We would be happy to answer any of your questions.

Who can go rafting?

Down The Mountain offers whitewater trips for most ages the minimum age we prefer is eight years old, and we have no maximum age.  We do recommend that you be somewhat physically active as this is a physically demanding sport.  We also recommend if you have any concerns about what ages, health status, special accommodations and the like, to call us.  Absolutely no pregnant women regardless of how far along you are.  It is very dangerous for your fetus and we will not be liable for that.  Please remember that there is an inherent risk with whitewater rafting and although accidents in this sport are rare, every person will have to sign our liability release waver prior to stepping foot in our boat or vehicle.

What if it rains?

Rafting companies in the pacific-northwest raft rain or shine; Down The Mountain is no exception.  For those days when it is raining, you are welcome to bring rain gear.  For those who do not have gear, Down The Mountain has pants, jackets, gloves, and water socks for most sizes, for a small rental fee.  We will not refund trips cancelled due to rain.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please understand that when you book a trip with us, we hold a space just for your group.  In order for us to do this we must often turn away potential customers.  If you decide to cancel your trip then it becomes difficult for us to fill that space, which many times we are unable to do.  In order for us to keep reserve guides and spaces we must strictly adhere to the following policy:

Cancellations made greater than 72 hours (three days) before your trip date will result in a $15.00 per person cancellation fee.  Cancellations made within 72 hours (three days) of your trip will result in a forfeiture of 50% of the total trip price.  We understand that situations arise and will be happy to reschedule your trip depending on availability.  You are also welcome to substitute group members, or transfer your trip to another person.  Please contact us prior to transferring or rescheduling.

Should I tip the guide?

Although tipping is not mandatory, our guides do appreciate it.  If you enjoyed your trip and enjoyed your guide, tipping is a great way to show your appreciation.
